December 31st, Mali

Today is December 31st, just a few hours before 2023. Here in Mali, the harmattan wind is blowing from the north to the south, forcing the scattered clouds to merge together covering the big sky and occasionally letting the sun rays peek through to greet the landscape. The bustling city of Bamako is on the rise twenty four hours, as people scurry in all directions getting ready for what they need for their New Year's Eve meals.
It's hard to believe that 12 months have already gone by, but the universe never lies and neither does Ko-Falen. Together, we have accomplished a tremendous amount in our goals for our Ko-Falen community here in Mali. I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you for making 2022 a special year for our families and their children. May the light of 2023 shine bright on us bringing happiness, joy, good health, prosperity and most importantly LOVE into each of our families. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.
Many blessings,
Baba Wagué Diakité

Today is "Fa" day (Satisfied Friday) November 11th 2022, a day to be celebrated. Therefore, I bought a chicken for my entrepreneurial class for the sake of my own happiness. All these because I finally finished the collection of 40 students that you all sponsored this year. As I mentioned in my previous email, it was the hardest decision I ever went through. However, many lessons have been learned through the process. But what was quite evident was students were randomly chosen with no regard to whether they were from poor or rich families. But all these should be in the past now since everyone recognized the problems it had caused. I hope we all learned our lesson. Now everyone understands that only Binta and myself are the only people that are allowed to interview and recruit students. I am so sorry it has taken so long to take care of everything. But I did meet with Oumar Sidibe the headmaster of Nieblasso to pay sponsorship for all 40 students. The next thing is to collect appropriate students that will be with our new teacher. Pretty soon things will be in order and then I will start the foodhealth program.
